At Suited Tutor, we believe communication should never be a barrier to learning. Whether it's a class confirmation, rescheduling notice, withdrawal request, or a one-time password (OTP) for secure login, staying connected is vital.
However, due to international mobile network restrictions, we are currently unable to support SMS delivery to the following countries:
Countries Where SMS OTPs May Not Be Supported:
- Armenia, Belarus, Congo-Brazzaville, Cameroon, China, Ethiopia, Guinea-Bissau, Iraq, Iran, Jordan, Kenya, Kuwait, Kazakhstan, Nepal, Philippines, Palestinian Territories, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, South Sudan, Syria, Eswatini, Timor-Leste, Turkey, Taiwan, Tanzania, Ukraine, Uganda, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Yemen, Zambia.
Thus, if you're based in or using a SIM card from any of the above regions/countries, you may not receive important alerts. But don't worry, as we have outlined easy, free, and reliable solutions to ensure you never miss a thing.
Why SMS Alerts Matter
You need an active mobile number to receive:
-
Class booking confirmations and reminders
-
Cancellations or schedule changes
-
Secure login with OTPs (one-time passwords)
-
Tutor withdrawal and earnings updates
Recommended Solutions to Ensure You Receive Suited Tutor SMS Alerts
1. Get a Free UK SIM Card (for UK-based or frequent UK travellers)
For tutors, students, or parents in the UK - or those visiting - getting a UK SIM card is quick and often free. These can be used to receive OTPs, class notifications, or other important lesson messages.
Where to get one:
-
Giffgaff (Free UK SIM – order online and delivered globally)
-
Lebara UK (Free SIM with international calls)
-
Lycamobile UK (Popular among international users)
Tip 💡: These SIMs can often be shipped internationally, even if you’re not in the UK.
2. Use a Free EU/EEA SIM Card (For European-based Users)
For those based in the EU/EEA, here are SIM card providers that support international roaming and work seamlessly with our SMS system:
-
Orange France / Orange Flex (Poland) – widely supported and includes roaming.
-
O2 Germany / O2 Spain – reliable for EU-wide communication.
-
Vodafone EU SIMs – easy OTP (one-time passcode) reception and class updates.
Tip 💡: EU SIMs with roaming work across Europe with no extra fees.
3. Use a Global or Virtual SIM (For International Users)
If you are living outside the UK and EU/EEA, but still want to stay connected:
Recommended International SIM Options:
-
Nomad eSIM – Digital eSIM for travellers, easy to set up on supported devices.
-
SimCorner Global SIM Card – Delivers worldwide and compatible with Suited Tutor SMS updates.
-
Airalo – eSIM marketplace with global coverage.
Tip 💡: The options give you a UK or EU-compatible number, even if you are in Africa, Asia, or the Middle East, bypassing the mobile restriction issue.
4. Switch to Messaging-Enabled VoIP Services (Where Applicable)
While not all OTPs are supported via VoIP, some VoIP apps offer SMS functionality with virtual UK or EU numbers, such as:
-
Google Voice (if already active in the US)
-
Hushed or NumberBarn (for low-cost UK virtual numbers)
Tip 💡: VoIP options may not work with all OTP services.
5. Use Dual SIM or eSIM-Enabled Devices
Some users may not need to replace their current SIM; instead, they can add a second SIM or eSIM from the UK or EU to their smartphone, (especially useful for tutors working internationally).
Tip 💡: Most modern smartphones (iPhone XS or newer, Samsung Galaxy S20+, Google Pixel 4+, etc.) support dual SIM or eSIM + physical SIM setups.
Benefits:
-
Keep your local number active.
-
Use the UK/EU SIM for OTPs, class alerts, and login verification.
6. Borrow a Friend or Family Member’s Number (Temporary Access)
If you’re unable to get a UK, EU-compatible, or international SIM (that’s not on the restricted countries list above), you can temporarily use a mobile number from a trusted friend or family member based in the UK or EU to:
-
Register your Suited Tutor account and receive the one-time password (OTP)
-
Receive important alerts temporarily — e.g. if you're travelling or need urgent access
Tip 💡: After registering or signing in, please make sure to update your own mobile number in ‘Account’ > ‘Profile’ > ‘Mobile Number’, and then click ‘Verify Mobile Number’ to ensure you receive all future SMS updates directly.
